Respected Principal, teachers and my dear students!
Today is 5 September and like every year we have gathered here to celebrate Teachers' Day. I am very honored to be hosting this event on this occasion. Today on Teacher's Day, I want to talk about one of those great personalities. Which is Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, whom I always admire and I am sure that everyone praises this great missile man for his remarkable contribution.
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam has been a great inspiration to me and his entire life journey has played a very important role in positively transforming my life.
We all know that Dr. Kalam was an Indian scientist and a liberal politician. Who served India as President from 2002 to 2007. Dr. Kalam was born on October 15, 1931 into a Muslim family. His full name is Aval Pakir Zainulbadin Abdul Kalam. Dr. Kalam was a sharp student and obedient boy who helped his family in earning a livelihood. He was born in Dhanushkodi, on the southeast coast of India. As a child, when Dr. Kalam saw birds flying in the sky, then he developed a fascination for air travel. Dr. Kalam's passion for flying aircraft became even stronger when he saw an article in the newspaper about British fighter aircraft.
His father's occupation was to build and rent a boat. Kalam was a very bright and hardworking student. To financially support his father, he used to distribute newspapers in his area, but he was always interested in studies; He was a very promising student, more interested in science and mathematics. After finishing school, Dr. Kalam went to St. Joseph's College and attended Madras Institute of Technology to earn a degree in aeronautical engineering.
He was always a promising student and acquired as much knowledge as possible in his school and college. Dr. Kalam joined the Defense Department of India after completing his graduation. He was one of the key figures in the development of India's nuclear capability. He earned many awards and honors for his contributions. In 1998, national hero Kalam was given the title of 'Missile Man' for various successful tests. Dr. Kalam was a key figure in the Pokhran-II trials initiated in May 1998. A total of 5 nuclear devices exploded in the Rajasthan desert at the time of Pokhran-2 test.
Although politics never wooed Dr. Kalam in 2002, the ruling party of India, the National Democratic Alliance, requested him to nominate himself for the presidency. With the support of the NDA, Dr. Kalam won the election and became the 11th President of India. As a President, Dr. Kalam lived a very simple life and always inspired young students to lead successful lives and serve the country. Honored as the President of the People, Dr. Kalam held more than 500,000 meetings with young students and people from across the country during his five-year presidency. This popularity of Dr. Kalam earned him the 'Yuva Icon' award for the years 2003 and 2006 organized by MTV.
Dr. Kalam served India as President for 1 session and died on 27 July 2015 due to heart attack. He played the role of a visiting lecturer and motivational teacher in many universities.
Dr. Kalam has been a role model for all and everyone respects him for his achievement, contribution and simplicity. I appeal to every student to follow the path of Dr. Kalam and live life with full respect.

Dear friends..
Today, 15 October, is the birthday of the world famous 'Missile Man of India' Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. He has been one of the most famous persons of DRDO (Defense Research and Development Organization) and that is why we at DRDO celebrate his birthday with great enthusiasm. Dr. Kalam's entire life journey has always been an inspiration for everyone and especially for those working in DRDO.
Abdul Kalam was a famous scientist and engineer. He also served as the President of India from the year 2002 to 2007. Even before he was elected as President in the year 2002, he was a very successful and popular figure.
Dr. Kalam spent over four decades as a science administrator and scientist in various prestigious institutes like DRDO (Defense Research and Development Organization) and ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization).
Dr. Kalam was born in a very simple South Indian family in Tamil Nadu. His father built the boat and used to rent the boat to the fishermen working on the coast. As a child, Dr. Kalam was a very promising student; He was very fond of flying and for his studies he received his degree in aerospace engineering from Madras Institute of Technology. Though he wanted to become a fighter pilot, he could not get the skills for him by the IAF (Indian Air Force).
He then joined the DRDO as a scientist and was later transferred to ISRO, due to his remarkable contribution in the field of research and development, he eventually became the Chief Scientific Advisor to the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. As a national advisor, he played a major role in Pokhran II in the world famous nuclear tests.
Dr. Kalam is known as the People's President, Dr. Kalam left the presidency after serving a period. He later became a principal at Anna University and started teaching aerospace engineering. He was also a visiting professor and went to different institutions to inspire young students and people there.
Dr. Kalam's journey of life is an inspiration for all of us. He was a famous nationalist and the world knows him by the nickname "Missile Man of India".
Though a practicing Muslim, he included himself in the wider culture of India. In his spare time, he listened to Indian classical music and studied the Bhagavad Gita, one of the most sacred texts of Hinduism.
Dr. Kalam has earned numerous awards and honorary degrees from over 40 universities. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan Award in 1981, the Padma Vibhushan in the year 1909 and the highest civilian award of India 'Bharat Ratna' in the year 1997 for modernizing India's defense technology and his remarkable contribution. Apart from being a great scientist and a great personality, he was also an avid writer. He wrote several books including his autobiography "Wings of Fire" in 1999, which is an inspiration for the youth of India.
Dr. Kalam always lived an ordinary life and was a man of a liberal personality. He always wanted to do and do something for the pride of India. He created the "What Can I Give Movement" in the year 2011, with the aim of developing a compassionate society.
Dr. Kalam died on 27 July 2015 due to a heart attack. During his last visit, he was delivering a speech at IIM (Indian Institute of Management), Shillong.
Who worked hard during his tenure as the Indian President to strengthen the military base of the nation and enlighten the world through his intellectual and moral views.

Dear Students - Good morning to all of you!
Today's class is going to be a little different from the rest of the class, because today I am not going to discuss any topic related to your textbook, but I am going to talk to you about the personality of a distinguished person whom everyone admires. It is our esteemed Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam whom people consider his inspiration and was also given the title of Missile Man of India. Killed were the 11th President of India, but we regret that today these celebrities are not among us. He was also a great scientist, a profound thinker and a motivational speaker.
A truly inspiring person for all of us, Dr. Kalam who was born into a family with a very common background in a remote Indian village called Rameswaram in India. This was the place where he got the first job of collecting bundles of newspapers to be thrown from a moving train. He has shared his life experiences with everyone, especially children and has told how proud he is to remember his first earnings and those days of working.
But this great man who inspired millions also drew inspiration from many eminent people who helped him achieve the title of Missile Man of India. Let's learn about one of the personalities who helped shape the personality of Dr. Kalam. First, Iyadurai Solomon who was a teacher of Kalam and with whom Kalam was very fond. Kalam was deeply impressed by Iyadurai Solomon's thought process and gave him a mantra, that was, "To succeed in life and achieve results, you must understand the three powerful powers, will, belief and expectations."
Iyadurai Solomon was indeed a great teacher, as he always helped to shape the personality of his students and find a sense of self-reliance within them. He told Abdul Kalam that "With confidence, you can change your fate as well." This is where Kalam's real journey started and he inspired people and did many things for their good.
He strongly believed that, even though his parents are illiterate, he can leave an indelible mark in his work in the world. During his childhood, Dr. Abdul Kalam was very impressed by the birds flying in the sky. Apart from this, it was also interesting that he became the first person to travel by plane from Rameswaram.
Years later, when Abdul Kalam went to the Madurai Kamaraj University convocation program, he saw his favorite teacher Rev Iyadurai Solomon on the stage. When he finished his speech, Dr. Abdul Kalam bowed his head before him and said, "Great dreams of dreamers are always fulfilled".
His teacher in turn said to him in a suppressed voice, "You have not only attained your goals, Kalam, but you have attained them". Dr. Kalam excelled in every work and made his work not only his teacher but the entire country proud. So students, all of you follow the footsteps they have mentioned and work towards achieving your goals honestly.

Before starting my speech on the biography of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, I would like to thank all of you who came to pay tribute to this great personality. As a citizen of India, we should never forget the contribution of those great personalities born on our land and we should always contribute to the development of our country. It is needless to say that there was also a person with such a personality, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, who is remembered as the Missile Man of India.
Honored with Bharat Ratna, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam's full name is Aval Pakir Zainulbadin Abdul Kalam and was the 11th President of India, he served the nation from the year 2002 to 2007. She was elected against Lakshmi Sehgal in the year 2002 and had the support of two major Indian political parties - the Bharatiya Janata Party as well as the Indian National Congress. The rest of the story is about how he became the missile man of India, whose passion was seen by the great visionary scientist Dr. Vikram Sarabhai. The great thing about the great Abdul Kalam was that he devoted all his life to his country and never tried to achieve his goal for selfish reasons. He kept his whole life active till his last breath and contributed whatever he could to mankind.
