Once a farmer went to the forest to harvest wood, he saw a wonderful thing.
A fox did not have two legs, yet she was happily dragging along.
How does it stay alive even when it cannot catch any prey, the farmer thought. Then he saw a lion coming in the same direction to press a prey in his teeth. All the animals started running, that farmer also climbed the tree. He saw that the lion came to the fox. Instead of eating him, he went with love by putting a little part of the hunt.
The next day too, he saw that the lion went away lovingly giving food to the fox. The farmer bowed in the heart of God for this wonderful leela. He realized that God also arranges the bread of the person who produces it.
Knowing this, he too went to a secluded place and would sit there quietly watching the way of food. Many days passed, no one came. He was dead and started returning.
Then he got a learned Mahatma. They made him eat water. So the farmer falling at his feet, he said while talking about the fox, Maharaj, God showed mercy to that crippled fox, but I survived dying. Why did it happen that God became so cruel to me?
The Mahatma smiled at the head of the farmer and said with a smile, you have become so unintelligent that you did not even understand the gesture of God, that is why you had to bear this kind of trouble. Why didn't you understand that God wanted to see you as a lion helping him, not like a fox.
There are many times in our life that we understand the opposite of the way we should understand things. God has given some such powers within us which can make us great. We have to make a choice, be a lion or a fox.
