A little learning is a dangerous thing
Acquisition of knowledge is essential for our purposeful living, But then it is not possible on the part of anybody to acquire knowledge about everything. The whole world is full of countless persons, places, objects, and ideas. One lifetime is too short a period to acquire knowledge on even a very few things. But those few things about which we ought to know we must acquire a complete knowledge about them. Incomplete knowledge about anything is worse than ignorance because there is a danger of missing incomplete and undigested knowledge. The saying that a little learning is a dangerous thing is a warning to half-educated persons who go about boasting of their so-called knowledge. Such people easily fall into errors and misjudge things. They not only mislead others but more often expose themselves to the ridicule of others. Hence, it is better to acquire knowledge completely on only one thing or, if possible, a few things.
