A rolling stone gathers no moss
A stone that constantly rolls and shifts its position frequently can never gather moss on it. But a stone that lies constantly at one place exposed to rain and moisture will gather moss on it. This simple and popular adage has enough practical relevance to man's life. It implies that a man who constantly changes his occupations and does not settle down to one particular profession or pursuit will not be able to acquire competence in any work. Hence, he can never achieve any success in any profession. He merely wastes his energy and abuses his time. Such a man is very much like a rolling stone. On the other hand, a man who sticks to one profession and works steadily in that profession stands a better chance or acquiring competence and achieving success in that profession than one who times and again changes his pursuits. Such a man will end up as a failure in everything.
