Outward appearance is not the yardstick a person's worth is to be properly judged with. What we generally call beauty refers to the handsome figure of a person or pleasing appearance of a thing. It is undoubtedly skin deep, a superficial feature. It does not give us any indication of the inner virtues and the real worth of a person. There are plenty of instances we come across in our day to day life that a well dressed and good-looking person is not necessarily a gentleman. He could be a thief, a pick-pocket, a robber, a bully, a criminal, and so on. A woman gracefully dressed and made up may not be a really fair lady. To judge a person or a thing one must go deeper than external looks. His real worth is not truly revealed by his appearance. His conduct, behavior, speech, and action are the yardstick to measure his worth with.
