First impression lasts long
It is an interesting thing to notice that whenever we see a person or an object for the first time we generally form an impression about the person or thing and this impression, right or wrong, stays with us for long. If we notice any change subsequently it does not alter or affect much our first impression. Suppose, one has come to believe that a friend is reliable and faithful from one's first acquainatance with him and subsequently a report comes that the friend is not reliable one does not attach much importance to this report. It cannot alter the first impression wholly. Similarly, when a teacher is impressed with a student from the beginning he awards him good marks even if his performance is not that good. Moreover, if the student commits an offence the teacher does not punish him. This is all the effect of the first impression which does not change easily.
