The proper attitude towards the recipient of one's service is total disinterestedness. In other words, service to the needy, the poor and the sick does not expect anything in return. The basic principle behind service is the recognition of the fact of the oneness of all lives. There is a verse in the Geeta where the Lord says, "worship me in all beings." Service is in the ultimate analysis a form of prayer through which one realizes God.
