The life-span of man is short. His physical, mental, and intellectual abilities are limited. Hence, it is impossible to acquire full knowledge and efficiency in a variety of subjects. Even one life is too short to acquire complete mastery over one subject. There are many branches of knowledge, humanities, sciences, handicrafts, fine arts, and so on. Each subject has also many specialized fields. In this way, there are an overwhelming number of areas of knowledge. One cannot acquire efficiency in all these areas. If a man aspires to know mathematics, music, carpentry, dancing, cricket, football, and angling he may know a little from each of these subjects but he cannot acquire mastery over any one of them. So all his efforts will be rendered fruitless. Therefore, it is always will be rendered fruitless. Therefore, it is always advisable to pursue only one thing, concentrate all attention on it and devote all time and energy to it so that one becomes a master of it.
