Look before you leap

If some one desires to leap from one place to another he will do well to look around in order to ensure that there is no danger. Sometimes, there may be a trench, thorns or some obstacle on the foreground. If somebody leaps without looking at these he may be hurt. Similarly, it is always better for us to think before we act. At times we act on a sudden impulse without thinking about the consequences. Such impulsive actions not backed by proper thought brings us to grief. We may repent for or regret such actions but by that time all remedies are passed. A rash action will undoubtedly bring about disaster. Wise men do not act recklessly or on sudden impulses. They avoid undue and hasty actions. Our actions should be better guarded by reason rather than impulse. This is how one can avoid the harmful consequences of careless and rash actions.
