Our doubts are traitors
The word doubt connotes feelings of uncertainty about a person, an object, or an idea. It also means hesitation or an undecided frame of mind. Lack of clarity and conviction is a breeding ground of doubts. A person who is not frank and straightforward entertains doubts about everything. Almost every person has doubts about one thing or another. It is found from experience that doubts are hardly worthwhile. They are the cause of estrangement between friends and relations and vacillation about vital questions. Emperor Aurangzeb was suspicious of not only his officers but of his own kith and kin. This suspicious nature did him more harm than good. Swami Vivekananda could not attain enlightenment as long as he nursed doubts about the existence of God. Since doubts are traitors one will do well to be honest, frank, and straightforward. In that case, doubts will not enter one's mind.
