Pride goeth before a fall
Man in his ignorance or due to want of right awareness commits many sins. Ancient sages have listed seven deadly sins responsible for man's downfall. Of all these sins the deadliest is pride. Pride is a child of undue self-love and exaggerated notions about one's self-importance. Persons who are blinded by vanity are neither loved nor respected by anyone. If a certain person loves and respects a proud man it cannot be genuine. It is just a pretense. Pride very often stifles conscience and the sense of judgment. The actions of a proud man ae invariably wrong and harmful. If it is not curbed the proud man goes on committing errors after errors which ultimately bring about his downfall. It has happened in the case of many great men and women of the world. Duryodhan, the eldest of the Kauravas is a classic example. His ignominious downfall was the result of his pride.
