VIRTUE IS ITS OWN REWARD

Life of anyone in the world is seldom a uniform phenomenon. Life in the society and that of an individual are a mixed bag. We find in each virtues mingled with vices. The world is so complex that one finds it rather difficult to be consistently virtuous. But it does not mean the world does not have people consistently virtuous. There were a few people in every age who were known for their moral excellence, uprightness and goodness. Weaker people like ourselves often lose our virtues in difficult situations. But great man like Nanak, Kabir, Vivekanand, Sri Ramakrishana and in our time Mahatma Gandhi retained their moral uprightness in all circumstances. They knew that virtue triumphs ultimately. It defeats unscrupulousness and moral degradation in all situations. The satisfaction that virtue gives is heaevnly and that vice gives is devilish. Dishonesty may offer temporarly satisfaction but it degrades a man. Virtue is rightly its own reward.
